    not a water snake

I have a 6 year old Ball (Mocha) I have had her about 6 months and never once did she get in the water. Now she has been in the water for about 7 days now. I got her out to feed and as soon as I put her back in her cage she went straight to the water. She is not wondering at all she never comes out of the water. Her hot side is 91 the water is on the hot side. The other side is 84.

I would check her and the enclosure for mites. Maybe she is preparing to shed?

I would double check though. Good move. What are the temps and humidity percentage like?

Nothing wrong with soaking per se - some snakes just like to soak! Ambient is on the warmer side, especially in conjunction with a 91F hotspot. Maybe she's just trying to cool off? I'd try to get the ambient closer to 78 to see if she doesn't soak less.

Has she been bred? I've had girls soak on the shed that proved to be thier pre ovy shed.
