Bitis for festivus
Christmas has come and gone, and this holiday my wife knocked it out of the park yet again. Her gifts were slightly delayed thanks to holiday shipping, but the final one arrived the day before yesterday. . . .
But the lead up was a book that I recommend anyone who wants to get into the venomous hobby as it is the cornerstone for venomous husbandry
Originally wrote in German, this book has now been translated into English. A wonderful start to the holidays!
Next
A great book to learn more about the effects of venom, classifications of venom, and where it evolved from and it's distribution across the world. This is the author who chanted our view on monitors being venomous.
But of course, she had to add the cherry on top this year and made it a Bitis festivus by getting us a pair of Bitis arietans captive bred in Europe and imported into the states. Now, puff adders in general are a dime a dozen wild collected species that you either love or hate. But these are dwarf puff adders from Kenya from one of the top two locales found - Lake Naruku! Crappy tub pics for now as they settle. Once they get a meal inside better pics will be added!
