    Best digital thermometer.

We currently have 2 zoomed digital thermometers in each snake enclosure but are finding they aren't great. They keep flashing on and off and we have to keep pushing the back with the battery tighter to get them to work.
So, I need a good, reliable, digital thermometer that I can get in Canada. (Please be aware, I need 4 so price matters.)

    https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Digit...ed+thermometer

I use that one and it seems to be pretty consistent with the temps recorded with my temp gun. I used a glue gun to keep the probe in place under the substrate and I find that it works really well for me. I know Zoo Med is kind of viewed as noobish but this one does it's job for me. I've used those Accurite thermometers that everyone talks about and I found that the recorded temps were not consistent or correct. I stopped using mine because of that. Might have gotten a lemon. No interest in trying another on at this time.

Seems to be hit or miss in any price range.
Order two, expect one not to work from the start, even with a new battery.
Frustrating! Not sure I'd still be in the hobby if it weren't for temp guns.

My theory is that they are ALL made in the same crappy factory somewhere in China, and the brand names get stuck on later.

    Thanks for all the tips.

I'm an idiot and didn't even think to use the search function in the forum. When I finally remembered, a couple people used one like this from Walmart. The probe goes on the hot spot and the unit goes on the cold side and measures that. Both temps with one unit.

But, there's no longer a probe inside the cold hut, so I guess if the cold side outside reads 82 to 83 I'd have to assume the hut would be about the same?
(The temps are wonky in the pics because the lids were off the tanks for a while and they cooled down.)

    Re: Best digital thermometer.

I use an infrared heat gun to check temp accuracy and compare it to my thermometers...

    That's probably true.

We do have a temp gun too. The new thermometers seem pretty good. They were basically the same when we had them together.
