Faulty Thermostat??
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light. Maybe someone here has experienced a similar fault
I've got several thermostats, and they're all made by Komodo or HabiStat. They each control one heat mat, or lamp.
Recently my BP had a bad poop, and skipped his last couple feeds. I was convinced I wasn't thawing out the food properly, dodgy batch of rodents, or something. Can't believe I didn't check temps (rookie mistake). Last night, I noticed that the lamp in his tank was dull (it was late and the room was warm - didn't think much of it) and when I checked the thermostat today it was set to 22C (~72F). Checked a few others and they've dropped (but no other snake has been ill). Even the thermostat I bought a week ago dropped to low 20s (Celsius).
Has anyone else experienced this fault or just me???? What brand thermostats do you use??? Maybe I've got a reptile-hating poltergeist adjusting my thermostats . A bit concerning nevertheless.

Not too familiar with either of those thermostats are they on/off style?

Re: Faulty Thermostat??
The one attached to the lamp is a pulse/dimming thermostat

Not all lamps can go on dimmers so that might be part of the problem, what about switching to a ceramic heat emitter bulb instead of one that emits light? It sounds like that to raise ambient temps closer to 80 plus a heat mat on another thermostat to keep the hot spot around 90 would be what you would need. I'm assuming glass aquarium setup?

If the tstat controlling the lamp is on/off in its function the light should either be off or on, not dim. A dim light on a non proportional tstat tells me it is failing.
We need more info about the tstat .
I only use Herpstat.
