I absolutely love my Maja (Bumble bee) she was my first morph and exquisitely beautiful.
Strange that you say that, but she too, has the BEST temperament ever. None of mine bite. None of mine seem overly shy, flighty or stressed. But there is something about Maja.
And no, I'm not one of those purple glasses, glitter and butterflies type of people. I know reptiles aren't legless little pets that are happy to see us...lol.
But still, she is just unique. Always so calm and curious. I can't even put my finger on it, but she is just special.
Thankfully she has no bad problems at all. No cork screwing, or upside down business. The worst I've seen is that she sometimes misses the ft rat at first try. Bad aim...
I'm torn about breeding any animal with known defects. But honestly, we shouldn't breed ANY morphs if we were so against this, because in a way they are all "defective genes". Doesn't mean they all have "problems" but we breed for anomaly.
And spiders are FAR FROM the only morphs with issues. They are just one of the ones with a defect that is easily "seen". Who knows what goes on inside many of the others. Only some problems are visible. Cork screwing, kinks, "no eyes". Some die in eggs or soon after hatching. Some can't reproduce because of defective reproduction systems (desert females). And again, who knows what all is "not quite right" with many, many others, that we simply can't tell visually or by behavior. That is just the dark side of playing around with genes for the purpose of producing a visually pleasing or different animal, with no regards to other consequences.
All that said. I love Spiders. The Ball Python kindIn all combinations. They seem to make everything prettier..
