28 qt tub and hides

I keep my ball pythons ( all males) in a 28 qt rack. My larger (~1k) males don't have space in their tubs for a hide. Is the tub small enough so they feel secure or should I put a hide in?

If nothing else you could just drape a towel over the front of the rack

I usually just layer the paper bedding to give them something to go under and that has always worked well for me
