Is White Noise Necessary?

Little sounds would scare me if there wasn't a level of white noise. So I'm wondering if running a box fan, for example, would be better for a ball python? To just create a constant wave of vibration?

There is no need for it. The less vibrations they feel the better.

They also don't have outer ears, so they can't even hear little sounds transmitted through the air. They can definitely detect sounds propagating through the ground like footfalls, scratches and scrapes, or even loud bass music. But a well adjusted animal that's acclimated to its environment isn't going to be overly disturbed by normal sounds of everyday life, within reason. If anything, the constant low vibrations of a noisy fan are probably more likely to be disturbing than soothing. But mostly I think it will just blow things around and waste electricity.

I would think constant vibrations would be confusing, let alone annoying.
