    Mites in my snakes eyes

Ok this is my only snake left in quarrintine for mites for some reason they always come back it's been about 2 months of weekly demiting and I clean her cage every 3 to 4 days but they won't go away any tips? I clean the entire rack each time and also my biggest problem and something I'm worried about is why are they always going into her eyes I have pulled about 7 mites out of both eyes that's all together and now I found another but have to wait for my roommate as its a 2 person job in order not to hurt the snake and why would they keep going to her eyes?

What are us using to kill them?

I had great results using Reptile Spray.

The two big box pet stores should have it.

I used that before but switched to jurrasimite I think it's called because it says I can use it more often but I'm wanting to switch after I had a snake pass away

I think I've already told you but I forget who I told what some times.

Make sure you clean everything around the snake with mites. The rack, tub, take, whatever or wherever the snake is. Also clean the floor around the area. I even spayed the carpet and then vacuumed when I had them.

Use Provent-a-Mite......it'll kill them all for sure. And then do it again after 3 days (or whatever the larvae timeline is) to kill any that hatch.

I couldn't get rid of my mites for good until I used the Nix treatment described in the link above. The PAM did fine at first but even with retreatment they still kept coming back. Once I added the Nix to the mix I was 100% mite free.

Nix works great, and I like to combine it with PAM. I use PAM during the QT process as to prevent anything like this, but then I use nix back when I received a new addition that had mites from a reptile show. Regardless I always treat, as I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Also, if I remember correctly I want to say PAM states it lasts for 30 days, however if I'm treating, I retreat every two weeks for the first month. Then I'll stop the mite treatment and just do a normal QT after that. Also when I come home from a reptile show, especially if I held any snakes I take my clothes off, minus my boxers before I walk in the door, it goes straight to the washer along with my boxers then I jump in the shower. Just because you don't see mites doesn't mean you're not transporting mite eggs.
