EMERGENCY!! Cannibalism possible?!
What are the chances of this happening? Is this fairly common?
So she owned an adult lavander albino. When the albino was in my house we tried to feed it rats but unfortunately it didn't eat it but it did eat a medium mouse. Fast forward to a week later it wouldn't eat anything. Not even a medium mouse or rats. On the same week we went to a show and bought a baby ball python. When she brought it home she house it together by putting the baby ball python inside a tupperware container. The next day she said that the lavander albino was on top of the tupper ware as if keeping it warm. I thought otherwise but figured whatever.
The next day she decided to change her set up and put them side byside by putting them both in a tupperware. basically two tupperware holding one snake each right beside each other. She was doing this as a temporary solution until she can fix the whole setup. Now she came home and found them both missing.
She came home and saw that her home made carboardbox enclosure housing both tupperware was slightly open. When she looked inside she found that both snakes arent in the tupper ware. Mind you that she taped the adults tupper ware cage and put something heavy on top. the tupperware holding the baby was open but the lid was still on top. She searched everywhere for both of them. She found the lavander albino underneath her bed. But she can't locate the baby ball.
She thinks that the adult ball might've eaten the baby ball. with makes me sick to my stomach since i'm a failry new owner myself. She checked everywhere in her room and she doesn't think that the babyball is small enough to crawl outside of her room which led her to this conclusion. I said it might be possible since i'm really hoping that babyball is still alive and if it is she has to find it fast.
Her room is small and she checked everywhere. I told her to check the rest of her house since you never know.
My question once again is it possible for the adult to eat the baby ball <---i actually checked this on google they said yes if the size is different enough.
mind you this ball python was offered both rats and m size mouse the day before and refused to eat.
Both are males. Albino is 3 years old the babyball is 3 months and we just got that baby ball this sunday. Her room is completely dark and this whole thing would've happened in a span of 12 hours since she left her house for work until she came back.
I told her to check everywhere.
Any suggestions on how we can find the baby ball if its still alive? How long can it live in a house environment? If the albino did eat it any way we can check.
Sorry if its hard to understand i'm in a rush to head out. For those that can comprehend it any help would be appreciated. and if nothing else a prayer that the babyball is alive hiding somewhere.

Highly unlikely. Crazy story though. A cardboard box is not appropriate to house snakes. Not even temporarily.

If the bigger snake ate the smaller one, you would be able to physically see the bigger snake with a full tummy. If she doesn't notice this, chances are no. The little one was not eaten.
Don't house more than one ball python together (unless temporary). Snakes like to be alone.. if they ever look like they're cuddling, they're not. Snakes on top of one another is a sign of dominance.
I would look for warm places and small hides (usually smaller than you think). Follow the heat and you may find the little one.

It can happen but really uncommon. BPs don't naturally prey on each other like kingsnakes do. If it were a kingsnake, a ratsnake, or even a garter snake, I would say yeah it probably ate it, but BPs I really doubt it, he is probably just freaked out hiding somewhere. He is going to stay hunkered down during the day and come out at night. I actually have a protocol for escaped snakes though I have never had to use it (knock on wood) I'd get rodent smell all over an electric blanket and put it on the floor in a heap, plugged in, overnight. The heat combined with the rodent smell should attract him fairly quickly. Don't do this with a UTH because it will burn him. Best of luck to you.

It has happened however it is very uncommon. Stress and under feeding constitute the main reasons for this to happen. The BP is Probably somewhere.
BTW you might want to teach your friend about quarantine

This - and ensuring a setup is in place and has dialed in for a few days before bringing home a new critter.

She found him hiding under a blanket last night. Preciate the responses eased my reading it. Btw didn't want to start a new topic but we bought him as a banana pinstripe. Do you think he has spider in him or just a banana pin. Thanks again.

At the risk of sounding rude, you or your friend really shouldn't own any pets if you cant provide the proper housing needed for said pets. Reading this post just made my jaw hit the floor. Keeping them together in a cardboard box inside Tupperware containers. You should always have the cage set up with temps and humidity BEFORE you bring the animal home. And even worse, you buy another animal before you even have the first one set up in a proper cage.......
