I worked at petsmart for a year and a half. Awful experience, and the fact I could do nothing about it and almost got fired a few times for trying too. Just had to remind myself at the end of the day that they are not my animals and I'm not the one putting them in those conditions... I've seen tons of animals die from the awfully kept husbandry. I've talked to my managers many times with the same response "it's policy. If we don't follow policy I could be in trouble" and I've sent multiple letters to the higher ups with no response. There's not much we can do besides try to show what horrible companies these places are. Some employees really do try their best to keep these animals healthy, but it's to no avail. But at the same time some of those animals go to even worse homes... So really it's fighting fire with fire
