Possible feeding trouble

So I checked in on Akurra ~15min after giving him his fuzzy mouse (was trying to get Manasa to eat), to find it still in his mouth, almost doubled up on itself. By the time I finished my panicked quick check of Google, he had finally got it the rest of the way in.

Given what I've seen people say about carpets being able to take large prey items, plus that he's gotten it down to where it needs to go, I'm not overly concerned at the moment.


What I am wondering is twofold:

1. Besides a regurge, is there anything in particular I should be watching out for in the next couple of days?

2. If this happens again, and he (or even one of my other snakes) is not able to clear it, what (if any) is the procedure short of an emergency vet visit?

I wouldn't worry. A snake is going to know if he can eat the size prey or not. If it is too big, he will try a little bit than then give up or if he does manage to get it part of the way down and realizes its too big, he will spit it up which isn't actually considered a regurgitation as the stomach juice isn't coming up.

With all that said, that is why I tend to feed my snakes on the smaller side. I mean it does no harm to feed them something too small but it can hurt to feed them something too big.

To be honest, he scared the crap out of me when I came in to check on him. He had decided to swallow from the middle, and doubled the fuzzy in half: there was the tail sticking out, right beside its nose

Have contemplated once or twice moving him up to hoppers, maybe I'll just ask for fuzzies near the larger end of the scale when I pick up some more next week.

Ive had snakes eat feeders that were small by folding them. I don't think you have much to be concerned with.

Same, I've had my snakes eat em folded up. Looks scary but the snake seemed happy lol.

Even hatchling BPs can eat hopper mice. I would definitely go up a size.

When my Bredli looked like she'd swallowed a tennis ball after folding her rodent, I just gave her a couple/few extra days without handling, and she was fine.

It doesn't sound like the prey item was too large. Your snake just ate it awkwardly . Most carpets can easily take mice fuzzys at birth. I fed all my carpet hatchlings mice fuzzys for their first 3-5 meals then it was mice hoppers, or small rat fuzzys.
