So just this night, I was on my computer and heard the strangest sound coming from my BP's tank! It sounded like a grown man passing a painful amount of gas, so naturally I was concerned. I researched it, and found that it is a common thing for some BPs to do occasionally. I shrugged it off, and left him alone, thinking it was most likely nothing to worry about. He also is in the middle of a bad shed, he usually sheds fine but this time he is shedding in patches. It is also due to this prolonged shed that he has refused food for the past couple of weeks.
After his first fart, I looked in his tank and noticed he was out roaming, nothing more, and thought he may have woken himself up with that loud display. About 30 minutes later, I hear the same noise. I go back to his tank to check on him. This time, he briefly opened his mouth a few times, as if he were trying to regurgitate something. He has never regurgitated before, and probably has little to regurgitate, as he has not eaten in a while. This worried me, and there was very little information online regarding these two actions coupled together.
He is 3 and a half feet long, almost 2 years old, and has always been a picky eater, but usually has good sheds. (He also has a great temperament, and rarely seems visually stressed.)
Should I be worried? Could it have just been some skin that got caught in his cloaca, making him try to push it out? This is my first BP, I don't know all of what to expect from these guys yet.
