I agree with John.

I keep Ball Pythons. They are my passion. But I also have a colubrid. Which is a kingsnake. He is my true pet, as the BPs only seem to "tolerate" handling. The king LOVES to come out of his tank and play. Colubrids are also MUCH easier in terms of care. They thrive in ambient room temperatures pretty much. Even though I do still provide mine a UTH and a daytime bulb. They are just, easy. Ball Pythons are finicky and will test your patience and worry the crap out of you sometimes.

But it really all boils down to what YOU want.
