Rat flavored prunes?
So i'm not actually worried yet, but i am concerned enough to ask here. Its been a while since Irwin pooped, like 17 days - that is more than a week longer than usual. I've slowed down his meals for the season, though i have not dropped his temps or changed anything about his setup. I'm hoping this is a normal metabolic response. He only has one small rat in him and has no lumps or distentions, no sausage butt or anything. Its just that i planned on feeding him this upcoming sunday or monday (three weeks from last feeding) but as a rule i wont feed him until he passes his last meal. Like i said, i know i'm not dealing with dangerous time-frames right now, i just wanted to get some input before it gets to that point (although hopefully it wont).

unless you start to see swelling, redness, or other signs that something is really wrong i would continue to feed like normal. I know that sometimes my snakes will go a little while without going poop.

He'll be fine. A lot of times when you feed smaller meals the snake will store up the poop until a few meals worth and then rip loose. Poop smells and will pretty much alert other animals like prey animals that a snake is possibly around so they have evolved to hold their poop a long time. Now if after like 4 feedings and months later you don't see poop, then I would be looking to make sure there isn't any odd bulges in your snake like a backup or something but as it sits now, you are fine. just keep feeding like usual.
Matter of fact, I am going to bless you with some poo reading material!!! http://snakesarelong.blogspot.com/20...e-ballast.html

Dude, I will take any excuse to read about poop. Super interesting article, and of course laden with links that I'm going to have to check out at some point. Just wanted to give an update – it's been about a month since his last meal and I finally gave him a rat today even though he still has not passed anything. Just as the last time I posted, he looks feels and acts completely normal and healthy and although he has not been acting hungry at all, which really makes me feel better about the whole winter fasting thing, he took the rat today with appropriate gusto.
