Anybody used a water reservoir?

the point is that the bowl refills slowly as the water leaves
it seems good, but the water is only ever about 1cm deep, which seems low
my bp is about 5 months, but I don't want him to soak when I'm on holiday as that will spill the water
this seems ideal in that its too shallow to soak,- so no defecation, and constant fresh supply
any thoughts?

If your going to try this set it up now and work out the kinks. Make sure it cant get knocked over and has enough of a water supply to hold you over till you come back. One problem i see is if the snake knocks over the reservoir, so make sure you secure it.

1/ it will be tipped over every time that is not gonna work.

2/ changing water is more than just changing water it's also about making sure that you scrub the dish to get rid of bacteria on a regular basis, so less changing water because of a reservoir = less cleaning = more bacteria buildup.

BP rarely soak anyway especially juvies and if they do that likely means that something needs to be addressed.

I wouldn't use it. Leave a large water bowl along with several smaller ones in the enclosure. If your snake soaks or poops it will likely be in the big bowl, leaving the others available for drinking.

I would also arrange for someone to check on him every 2-3 days while you are away.
