Reptile Basics hides warping?
I have Large Reptile basics hides for both of my adults, but I noticed they seem to be a bit warped and no longer sit straight against the floor. Does this happen a lot? My BP's don't seem to care that it's not completely dark in there, they still curl up inside and they still eat and thrive.

I've used them for years and never had this problem.
How hot did they get with your setup?
Also the new hides from reptile basics have Vivarium Electronics stamped in them instead of Reptile Basics.

Re: Reptile Basics hides warping?
I have noticed the same thing. They are now producing injection molded pieces versus the old way of Vac-Forming. Given the material they are using and the fact that there are no stiffening structures built into the design, it is to be expected. The mouse whole simply allows for the top to warp as there are not four connected sidewalls holding everything in place. When they were being Vac-Formed the material had better rigidity and it didn't occur. Never the less, the snakes don't seem to mind.

I have older ones and run them through the dishwasher on the sterilize cycle so they get a LOT hotter than the enclosure. None have ever warped.
It sounds like the new ones may be less desirable.

That's interesting. I do the same thing, and oddly enough both the new and old style get a bit of the bow to them. Nothing crazy by any means, but there are a few of both styles that don't sit quite level anymore.

I've got a couple big ones that are warped slightly that I'd noticed lately. Snakes don't seem to care though.

Re: Reptile Basics hides warping?
Yea, a bunch of mine warpped throughout the years and they've never been in a dishwasher... It is what it is. My BPs are still pretty happy with them and I like them as well.

Mine are older and all still sit flat. I wash them by hand and they have never been in the dishwasher.
I wonder if running the warped ones through the dishwasher where they get heated up and then removing them while still warm, placing them on a flat surface, and then weight the top down with something flat and heavy on top to reform them into the original shape would work.

Maybe but like others have said, my snakes also don't really care. I actually think they like it as it gives them multiple "doors" to the hide lol. My retic always uses the "back door" aka warped back corner to come and go. He will sit with his head laying outside the actual door though, weird little snake lol.
