Don't base the snake on a breeder. Find the snake you like and base it off the snake. With that said, I don't own any Hog Island(its HOG not HOGG) boas but they are a BCI just like a Colombian boa is a BCI. Now, when you say "red tail", and "Colombian", i'm going to assume you mean a Colombia BCI, not a true red tail BCC. And with all that said, both of my BCI girls, my sunglow and my normal Colombian are both puppies. My Colombian who I've had the longest, I can do anything to her. I can grab her head, pet her on the head, flop her on my shoulders, do whatever and she is fine with it. My sunglow is pretty much the same but she is smaller so I cant really sling her over my shoulder and stuff lol. It really boils down to the personality of the animal and how its raised. I interact with all my snakes a lot as babies and they are used to me by the time they get older.

Basically you just need to ask the normal questions when you buy a boa. how big are the parents, what is it eating, how often is it eating, what is the temperament and if you are buying in person, hold the animal and see how it acts. Most will be shy and some will be nippy but most I've seen were pretty mellow even as babies. My Colombian has bitten me once in about 4 years and that was when she was a baby and new and I came in over her head and she got scared and bit my arm but she was too small to get her mouth around it lol. But since then, like I said, she is a puppy. She is the only snake I will just reach right in no matter what and pet her head or grab her at any time.

Bottom line is find the boa with the look you like and then go from there. The only ones I've heard of having an angry streak in general are CA boas but again, each one is different. It's like GTPs where biaks are the nasty little sobs in general but some people I've talked to have ones they can easily pick up and carry around with no pissiness at all.
