Okay so I unplugged the heat mat for now but the thing I'm using to get the temps is a digital thermometer like the ones you can place inside his enclosure and will read how hot it is in there but thanks you for the picture diagram that way I know how to set everything up when I get it I'm also going to purchase a thermal gun to measure ground temps as well cause I'm thinking the digital one is reading air temp not ground temp as you saidOriginally Posted by PitOnTheProwl

You still didn't answer my question: HOW are you measuring your temperatures???
If you are using a stick on gauge? Are you using a probe thermometer? Using a temp gun?
You need to check your temperatures on the hottest surface your animal can touch....... This would be under the substrate.
Your heat mat is probably well over 100+ degrees.
A heat mat used under the enclosure is used for a hot spot and when properly regulated does nothing for ambient temperatures.
