    Temps too cold?

The fall cold is really starting to set into my house and my temps have dropped to 76-77 degrees on the cold side and 87-88 on the hot side. Is this too cold for Buddy? How can I increase temps during the winter so that he's comfortable? I tried putting a space heater near his tank and it ended up bumping up the hot end to 98, which I thought was too hot.

Do you not have a thermostat?

I don't think my mom would let me use the house thermostat to heat the entire house up to 80 degrees just for Buddy.

I'm confused... I meant do you have a thermostat that regulates the temperature inside of your snakes enclosure?

Is your tank insulated? That makes a huge difference. Foam insulation board or just Styrofoam sheets if you have them from packaging something works particularly for tanks because the sides are straight and square. But anything you can wrap around three sides plus the top bottom will help a lot. You can still leave the front clear for viewing.
You are fine for now, but you might also look into adding additional heat sources if the temperature in your house gets colder. If your mom doesn't want to spend money on that stuff, keep in mind that using a space heater is an incredibly expensive and inefficient way to heat just one cage.

But regardless, listen to the above posts regarding a thermostat to regulate the heaters you already have!

Oh I didn't even know you could attach heat sources to their own thermostat! That's incredibly useful! It's good to know the current temps are fine but I'm definitely going to be purchasing a thermostat for my heat sources and insulating Buddy's tank. Thanks so much for the info. Love then diagram.

What kind of heat sources are you using now, and how are they being regulated?
