Humidity Problems

Is there a better way to raise the humidity of my Ball Pythons tanks then spraying the sides with water? I moved my snakes from my room to my basement for extra space but the humidity gets as low as 15 sometimes. Can anyone help? Thanks

Theirs a couple way which you might already know.... if it's a glass tank cover part of the top with tin foil iv seen ppl mention saran wrap as well... Water bowl under heat.... spagnum moss.... Hope this helps

Like mentioned, cover 3/4 or more of the top with tinfoil, use a large water bowl and you can also place damp paper towels on top of hides and then just refresh the paper towels wetness as needed. Also if you are using a heat lamp, you are going to be fighting an uphill battle. You can also create humid hides with Tupperware storage containers with damp sphagnum moss in them and a U shaped door cut into the side that touches the lid of the container. You don't want to cut a complete circle door as a snake can get stuck.

I find that soaking a bath towel, which holds a lot of water, and laying it over the screen top helps a lot. Squeeze it only until water doesn't drip, but is still very wet. For you, it might last a day.

You can also use substrate like coco husk or coco fiber, which holds humidity better, if you're not already.

I also make humid hides by just sticking the inside of the hide with paper towels and spraying them wet again whenever needed.

I recommend saran wrap, You can have always make adjustments if the humidity gets too high by simply poking a few holes in it. It also looks way better than foil and will help hold in heat as well.

Heh, I like the look of foil better. Plus it's safe if it is in contact with a heat lamp, which saran wrap is not. But if it's a long term solution (in other words, a tank that the snake will live in long term as an adult, as opposed to a more temporary one that the snake will outgrow) I'd say it's worth making a cover out of plexi, glass, melamine, pvc, or some other solid material with air holes in it that you can cover and uncover as needed without having to mess with foil or plastic wrap all the time.
