Types of wood safe for ball python cages to sit on.

I have recently received a very large aquarium for my ball python. I am wanting to make a stand for it to sit on. Would it be bad for the base only to be made of aged cedar?

No. The stand isn't really important what type of wood, however, I would make sure it can adequately support the weight.

Just a suggestion but they have a lot of other options besides you having to make a stand. I'll happily give you some links that will be more beneficial.

The type of wood shouldn't matter, but do be sure that whatever finish you use is completely dry, has had time to air out, isn't off-gassing anymore, etc.
    And post photos!

I know I'd be interested in seeing those.
