Morph information
Where can I find information about morphs such as what genes are new, what combos have been created and what hasn't and especially information about how to identify morph characteristics. I found stuff like world of Pythons which has a list of morphs but no details about most of them.
Thanks for your help

Re: Morph information
Kevin McGurleys book "The Ultimate Ball Python Morph Maker Guide" has 762 pages filled with pretty much everything you would ever need to know about any morph you can imagine.
Also, Morph Market has a really nice calculator that breaks down each gene of a certain morph and what you'd get if you cross it to something else.

Re: Morph information
Thanks for the reply. Morph calculators don't tell you which morphs have been created and which haven't, only what is possible. I'd like to know if say I have a cypress, what combinations have not yet been created such as cypress GHI or Cypress clown. Also, morph market (which I check everyday) tells me what morphs are available, but not what charatieristics each morph carries. For example, I've heard the fire gene refered to as the clean up gene. That it makes other traits brighter and sharper. I'd like to learn how to know what I'm looking at rather than accept what I'm being told. Some genes are obvious. Others clearly need a trained eye to spot.
i have the book python regius and it has only been slightly helpful, but since new morphs are constantly being discovered, any book is going to be out dated before it is published.
Ive also seen cool genes like Toxique but can't find it available on morph market or any other info about it.

Re: Morph information
Unfortunately, there is not a perfect index like you are hoping for. WOBP is about as close as it gets, but is only as good as the folks that run the site and the people who submit their animals.
The best way to learn is to see examples - lots and lots of examples. You'll learn over time to recognize subtle differences. And even then you'll still bounce your thoughts off of your friends before making the final call.

Just want to be sure. Did you click any of the entries in the World of Ball Pythons morph list? That will bring up a page with bigger pictures and information like when first produced, who did it, and sometimes a description. Clicking on the who did it entry will bring up more information about the breeder. Like I was looking at a basic morph named Rainbow. It was bred in 2015 in Belgium. I won't be getting that one soon.
I generally figure that any combination that I can afford to buy the basics for has already been made by someone else.
Good luck

Re: Morph information
There's one visible Rainbow on Morph Market right now, a Rainbow Enchi for $17,500. Better hurry before it's gone 😂
Yes ive clicked on several of the morphs listed on WOB. Some have info about who bred it, most do not. None of them provide details about the visual characteristics. Thank you for the suggestion though.
