Just wanted to add, shows are not all reputable breeders. There are flippers and occassional sketchy sellers there too who have no clue about the animals they're selling. I'd personally even prefer finding a reputable breeder online, because you can do research on their profile and feedback just to play it safe.

    Re: First Time Breeder

Makes since. I've actually bought 4 snakes from a show. One Cal King and 3 Balls. The cal king is amazing but the others had problems. One was the wrong gender, one had a infection, and the other didn't eat or shed before being sold to me. I didn't find out till afterwards and I hadn't bought from there since.

    Re: First Time Breeder

Unfortunately if i dont find something soon then buying at a show will be my only choice. Temps in NY are quickly getting cold so shipping will soon not be an option. 😔

    Re: First Time Breeder

It's not that hard to find reputable breeders selling guaranteed hets and standing by them. Doing just a tiny bit of homework as a buyer goes a long ways towards not losing out on valuable time growing up these animals.

I think it's also worth mentioning that reputation isn't always proportional to years in the hobby. There are a lot relatively new breeders who have just as much (if not more) to lose by having their hets not prove out as such.

    Best of luck!

Garrick Demeyer at Royal Constrictor Designs. Enough said. He is one of the most popular ones in the states and his customer service is phenomenal!

Deborah Stewart from Stewart Reptiles is another very trusted seller. I personally have never purchased from her, but if she ever had anything I wanted I wouldn't hesitate. Her buyers speak volumes about her as well as her customer service. Dave Green is another great seller ! I have purchased a few animals from him always super healthy and fantastic feeders. I also purchased from Tony Bass at Unballievable pythons as well. Picked up a wicked pied male and albino female from him almost 3 years ago. I personally favor the small breeder. They always have outstanding customer service as well as quality animals. These people do not have huge collections. They have to select quality stock very very carefully, because they cannot house dozen of the same morphs due to space and feeding bills. Imo their selective eyes and extemely picky nature's means I'm in turn buying top of the line quality animals. I'm not a fan of big breeders just my personal opinion I like a more 1 on 1 approach. I won't waste your time, but in the same breath I do expect a little bit of it so I can make appropriate purchases based off my goals. These 3 breeders I mentioned have no issue going the extra mile to make sure your purchase will keep you happy for many years to come.

You make good points, and while Garrick Demeyer is a HUGE SUPPLIER, I guarantee you if you call his company, HE will answer and whether you're looking for a normal or a 10,000 dollar snake, he will spend as much time on the phone with you as you desire. The guy genuinely cares about this hobby and he cares about each individual customer. The same can NOT be said about some of the "other" large suppliers..
