Soak or feed?

My noodle has been doing well since entering our house with one exception, a bad shed.

He shed last Sunday and has been working on getting everything off throughout the week. He ate last Monday, but had a lot of shed stuck on his head, including eye caps. Didn't realize that when we fed him, but he ate with no problem. Wife and I kept humidity up in the 70's as constant as possible, but he could not get the junk off his head no matter how much he scraped his face off things.

We did all our research on soaking and helping him shed, but the past 48 hours turned crazy busy and we didn't get around to it. He's out and about now that it's dark and he doesn't seem to have any eye caps and just a little shed on the very top of his head.

So my question is should we bother with a soak tomorrow? Personally, I'm thinking just feed him tomorrow and two days after when we handle him, just take a wet rag over his head.

You could make cheap humid hide out of tupperware and some sphagnum moss and try to feed on your normal schedule.

You could also just go ahead and try and soak your snake making sure the water isnt too hot/ too cold or very deep and just skip the feeding till next week.

I would do what ever is easiest for you, missing one feeding isnt a big deal.

Thanks for the heads up on the humid hide, that's an awesome idea! For all the research I did on soaking (mainly from this site), I wasn't looking forward to it because of trying to rub the skin off his head, haha.

I'll put together a humid hide tonight and put that in his enclosure. I'd like to try and keep him regular with feeding because he's been such an amazing eater since we got him, so I may put the humid hide in and feed him tonight.

My little guy had a bad shed when I first got him despite humidity being in the high 60's/low 70's. I soaked him two days after the initial shed to help get what was still stuck off. Ever since then, when I see him going blue I make a humid hide with tupperware and damp sphagum moss like above. He has had 3 complete sheds all in one piece with this method. As for the feeding, I personally would go ahead and offer the prey. Mine has a great appetite and never misses a meal even when deep in shed. If he's not interested, just try again next week. Best of luck!
