Ball Python with a great feeding response. Am I feeding her enough?
Hello all,
My BP has been feeding readily for the past couple of weeks, and between her feedings, she is amped up and wanting more food. She is 1330g. I am feeding her one 66g small rat and a 40g weaned rat in one sitting every 12 days. Is this enough food for her, or should I bump it up to two 66g rats every 12 days. She will not eat medium rats.
Thanks!

Depends on the body condition, I'd post a photo. If she is long and skinny I'd say bump it up. If she is short and fat I'd say you are OK. Usually when I buy new snakes they are underweight and I power feed twice a week until their body condition looks good, then I back off to one feeding per week. If they get fat I won't feed them for weeks or months until they trim down a bit. It all depends on what they look like. A good feeding response is great, you have total control over body condition.

Any reason you couldn't offer food weekly instead of the 12 day rotation?

I heard when they get past 1200g, you should feed them once every two weeks. Also, I feed my BCC once every 12 days and I would like to feed both of them on the same day. However, I could easily feed my BP every 7 days. Would any of you recommend the small rat and weaned rat in one sitting every seven days?
