Hurricane Matthew Prep
So, Florida Is getting sucker punched by hurricane Matthew on Thursday and Friday, great... Besides preparing my house and stuff like that, how do I prepare my snakes enclosure? He is near a window, so i'll move his cage over to a more isolate spot. Is there anything else to worry about? I also have a rabbit, same thing near a window and gonna move her. I just want have backup plans for EVERYTHING that might go wrong. Ya don't mess with a category 4 hurricane, especially if it can possibly turn into a category 5.....

Re: Hurricane Matthew Prep
I don't know man, if it were me I'd want to have a carrier on hand to put my bunny in so it can be moved easily if need be, and I'd want a bin + pillowcase for my snake along with something to keep it warm if you end up with no power... the word is slipping me, but something like a hand warmer. I just wouldn't worry about the enclosure itself, I'd make sure it's up off the ground and away fron any windows/doors, remove snake at any point if necessary..
Hope you get through it with minimal damage.

I asked a similar thread last week with good ideas/advice- don't know if it would help for you: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ion-for-snakes
Our earthquake risk has already gone down to zero since yesterday, fortunately.
Stay safe!

Are you in an area that typically floods?
Got a generator?
If you have to evac do you have somewhere to go that is snake and bunny friendly?

If I was in your position, obviously since you are in FL temperatures are not a concern however the possibility, flooding and destruction are when dealing with a hurricane, I would bag my snakes and have my rabbit in a carrier, just in case you would need to evacuate or have to move quickly to higher ground.
Last thing you want is to fumble around with animals in the middle of a disaster.
