Re-using coco husk?

Is it a good idea to reuse coco husk that's been in the enclosure for months? By reusing i mean taking it all out to wash with hot water, leave them to dry, and spreading with mite spray.

I thought that in the wild, the natural substrate isn't cleaned anywhere so why not in a captive enclosure?

In the wild the animal isn't sitting and popping in the same 2 square feet of 'substrate' for months at a time and there is rain and natural bacteria to 'clean' it.

No problem. We often speak of 'in the wild' but we need to keep in mind that our set ups are not the wild and the same rules don't apply. In the wild snakes eat wild mice and develop a natural parasite load that in captivity would quickly kill.
