What materials, if any, to use in a Zoo Med Reptile Shelter cave?

    Hi all,

I purchased a Zoo Med Reptile Shelter 3 in 1 Cave for my BP to replace a stone hide that she has outgrown. I see most recommend putting sphagnum moss and wetting it every week and replacing it every 2 weeks. Do you absolutely have to put some sort of substrate in it?

    Thanks!

Most people put moss in if they have trouble keeping humidity in the enclosure so as long as your humidity is ok then there's no need.

Thank you. I went ahead and tried it w/o moss and he's happy with it so far.
