    Ball pythons are known to be very docile. It's fairly normal for bps not to hiss, though sometimes they might be startled for a moment or two. If he's near the glass everyday, though, just be sure to double check husbandry, that he's not glass surfing, etc. since that can be a sign of off-temperatures, stress, etc.

    As for his color, it depends on his morph. Can you post a picture? Some morphs like ghost morphs typically have more "muted" colors, sometimes where their blacks look more brown or purple like this one.
