Locality breeders
Hi all,
Finally in a position where I can start filling up my home built cages after 5 years. I want the inaugural purchase to be either a Suri or Peruvian, but can't for the life of me find many for sale. Are locality boas that rare? Don't clutches start dropping in the fall?
Does anyone know some reputable breeders I can reach out to that might have hatchlings/yearlings for sale? Would love to find some Renfro bloodlines...
Any and all help greatly appreciated!

They are around but you have to somewhat be in "the know". Suris are available and have an almost cult like following. The good ones are outstanding and can be expensive.
Peruvian boas are more difficult to come by. They tend to be harder to produce in captivity but again, there are breeders that do have them.
Start here.

I bought my boa constrictor (Barranquilla, Colombian locality) from them, though it was produced by Gus Rentfro who sadly no longer is involved in selling boa constrictors.
I love this Colombian locality, it shares traits of both BCC (BC) and BCI (BI). They are not as expensive as the Suri stuff and are a very easy keep.
4 year old male at 6.5 feet.

They have most of Gus Rentfro's old stock which includes Pokigron, Surinam boas, Peruvian snakes from Iquitos and Pucallpa and additionally they have some morphs and other species of snakes.
Another "no brainer":
The author of THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR
Has a Facebook page and a web page.

I imagine he has more connections than most.
Quality Suri boas may run more than you expect depending on the animal you want but there are some beauties out there.

Another breeder here.

Check into those, and see what you can figure out.
Tinley is coming up in the Chicagoland area and I'm sure there will be a lot of options there at the expo.
$300-$600 for high quality lines but I'm sure you can find something for less as well.
I hope this post helps.

Like Gio mentioned, the first 2 that come to mind for locality would be Cutting Edge Herp and Legacy Reptiles. Get a Pucallpa!! Those would be sweet. Now that I just got my jungle carpet python, I can focus on my next venture...probably either a GTP, ETB or Pucallpa. Also join facebook groups like Boa Constrictor Keepers and Boa Constrictor Aficinados and ask around there. You will find a few locality breeders there too.
0.1 Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname BC-Gina
1.0 Meltzer/Lincoln Peruvian Longtail het anery BCL-Louie
0.1 Biak Green Tree Python-Pat
1.0 OSHY Biak Green Tree Python-Alex
0.0.1 Super Reduced Reticulated Gila Monster-Dozer
0.0.1 Utah Banded Gila Monster-Tank
0.0.1 Super Black Beaded Lizard-Reggie

I also have a person that just had a litter of Suris from high end lines checking this thread.
The snakes are neonate and have not shed so there will be some delay, but when it's time, they will be worth a look.

Appreciate the direction! Thanks to you Gio, I've got two leads from two reputable breeders. Never would have been able to find them without your help. It's amazing how tight knit the BCC community is nowadays. I'm excited to soon be inducted into the exclusive club of BCC ownership!!

Outstanding!!
Yes that Suri crowd is active and very tight.
Peruvian stuff is more difficult to come by, the big Iquitos boas are my favorites!
However, before I decided to go with a retic, I was looking at either a Suri or coastal carpet.
The good news is I'm in love with my Colombian. Actually he's one of the best I've ever seen.
Let me know who you go with and what you get.
And i'm glad I could get you pointed in the right direction.
