    How often to offer??

My male bp has been on frozen thawed for about a year now and he fed every time he was offered, which was about once every 8 days. Just recently, he has stopped feeding completely, he seems interested to feed but every time I offer he doesn't take! He isn't losing any weight, and if he is deciding to fast, how often should I offer him a rat?
I know these fasts can last months and I don't want to waste any rats

    Re: How often to offer??

It really depends what you have been feeding, a lot of people tend to overfeed their males, which result in food refusal and even fast, a small rat 55/75 grams depending on the size of the snake once every 7 to 10 days is more than enough.

If he persist offer even other week and in the mean time make sure your husbandry is on spot

When I know my snakes are fasting I usually offer food every 2-4 weeks until they're back on track. Once they hit the 90 day mark of not eating I'll try a small live feeder.

If this fast persists and he starts losing weight I will definitely try a live feeder.
This is probably a dumb question, but where do I get live feeders... I have only fed F/t

    Re: How often to offer??

Depending on the size of your male he could go quite a while without eating and sometimes changing things around such as bedding or enclosure size might be more than enough to get him back on food.

If your BP feeds F/T and you decide to feed live you might regret that as he may not switch back.

As for finding live feeders, you can find them at specialty pet stores, that sell reptiles and feeders, or you can check you local craigslist.
