My new babies are a bit nippy

So the wife and I got 2 babies, a Mojave and a lesser. Unlike the couple we got a while ago they weren't handled much before they found their forever home so needless to say they are a bit snippy. Being as though we haven't had much experience handling mouthy babies. So any tips you all have for us ? It's greatly appreciated.

The moment you overpower them they :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: down. So I would just recommend coming in from an area that's not quite in front of their face, quickly and confidently, and pick it up. But you also have to think about how often your holding this baby, maybe not the best idea, could stress it out too.

I also came across this video awhile ago, hope it helps.

They will calm down with time. They are small so they still see you as a very large predator that may want to harm them so they are defending themselves the only way they can by striking at you.

Give them some time to settle into their new home, let them eat a couple meals over time, and you'll see them calm down significantly once they slowly understand that your not a threat.

You probably want to keep handling to a minimum right now if your new babies haven't eaten for you yet. But if they have already been eating for you consistently then you can do some short handling sessions. If they do strike at you while your handling them be sure NOT to put them back immediately. They will start learning that when they strike they get put back in their home where they want to be and you don't want them striking at you all the time. So continue the handling session a bit longer until it calms down, then put them away

I hope all of this was helpful! Congrats on your two new additions. Definitely would love some pics
