Tub heating question
So I've bin looking at getting a ball python within the next few weeks and have bin doing a lot of research on here (thanks for all the great info!! ) but i have some questions. The first being do you think it's ok to use two UTH's, one for warm side/one for cool, with a tub setup? I know they don't do much for ambient temps but I've read a few times that this was ok. I'm trying to avoid using a space heater to heat the whole room. I plan on getting a juvenile so I wanted to start it out in a tub then move into a T8 or something along those lines after they're a bit bigger. Which brings me to my next question, do you think i should just skip the tub and go straight for the t8 since it seems it's easier maintaining ambient temps and humidity with that?

Sounds like you did a bit of research before registering for the site. Awesome! It's perfectly acceptable to use multiple UTHs, as long as they're each individually regulated by a thermostat. Tubs work very well - it's just as easy to control temps/humidity in one of those as it is in a T8. It's definitely cheaper to get your husbandry dialed in and to have your new arrival feeling secure if you go the tub route. Having said that, the first enclosure I had for my first BP purchases (as 100ish gram hatchlings) was a divided T8 which I cluttered up and got dialed in perfectly before adding any inhabitants and it ended up working very well for me.
Regardless of the route you go, I'm confident that you'll do it right based upon the questions you're asking in your first post!

Haha Thanx yeah I've definitely bin putting in the hours on the researching front lol this site has helped tremendously and everyone is very helpful and informative! I've had reptiles growing up and a crested gecko now but I'm dying to get back into snakes . I'm glad to hear two Uth's are no problem, I'll probably go that rout to cut costs and get everything dialed in until I decide to upgrade. Thanks again for the help!

The T8 works great with a divider. Only problem is, if it's divided, the other half will probably end up with another BP...
Welcome and GL with your future BP. What morph are you thinking of getting?
6.10 Ball Pythons
1.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boas - "Marco and Esmeralda"
1.0 Jungle Jaguar Carpet Python - "Rossi"
1.1 Boa Imperator Rescues - "Clifford and Bonnie"
0.1 Hog Island Boa - "Luna"
1.0 Dumeril's Boa - "Sage"

Re: Tub heating question
Thank you and well I'm really liking a lot of the yellow stuff like fireflies and some pastels so anything bright like that, but I kinda like them all so it's gonna be a hard decision lol. I did see that the t8 comes with a divider which I have a feeling would come in use sooner rather than later

Only if it's not a part of the plan from the beginning.
