Feeder rats in the Bronx?
I recently relocated to Bronx, NY and so far I am really disappointed with the lack of reptile stores around here. In LA I would get pre-killed rats at one of the many reptile stores in the area. Although I prefer pre-killed, my snake will take frozen/thawed just fine. What's the best place to go to for feeders? Preferably local to the Bronx.
Thanks!!

Well. . .most reptiles are illegal in NYC . I'm sure it's not enforced very strictly, but I suppose that's why there aren't many reptile stores. You can buy frozen feeders online, and ask for an unmarked box, that might be your best option. Also, in a city that size I'm sure there are lots of small-scale rodent breeders. Try contacting a reptile club or rat club to see if they can put you in contact with someone.

I agree with Willow. If your snake will take f/t I'd order the feeders online. I use Perfect Prey or Big Cheese for all my feeders.

It's one of those things that's not really enforced. It's a lot like jaywalking. There are BP owners in NYC who do not have problems. As long as you're not parading your BP around like an accessory, you're fine.
I personally like Big Cheese Rodents because of the consistency of their packaging and quality. Their medium rats tend to sell out fast, so I stock pile when I can. :-)
