    One World Trade Center

Just got back from a trip to New York. I went to visit the 9/11 Memorial which is a beautiful and powerful place (I found myself not ready to visit the museum). While I was there I decided to visit the top of One World Trade Center, 101 floors up. The tower as a whole is 1,776 feet tall with the spire, making it the tallest building in the western hemisphere and the sixth tallest in the world (although the observation deck of the Willis (Sears) Tower is about 100 feet higher up than the one at World Trade). The view is unlike any other. Truly spectacular. I highly suggest it to anyone visiting the city.

While you're at it check out The Oculus, the pure white marble 4 billion dollar train station across the street...it's other wordly.

View of One World Trade through the Oculus.

It really is. There is also a tree there called the Survivor Tree that was found alive after three months under the ruble. It's doing very well and has an armed guard 24/7.

    nice!

i was in NYC a month ago and got to see the One World Trade Center/Freedom Tower too. my friends aren't really into "touristy" stuff so we didn't take a tour or go to the top, more like a quick walk through.

i only took a few quick snaps. i wanted to explore the cool cathedral church (St. Pauls'?) and cemetery across the street but it was closed.

we went to go hang out at Battery Park on the southside and got this pix walking back on the Hudson River greenbelt.

and i caught a Pokemon along the way. Freedom Tower still in the background.
    RIP Mamba
