Heavy breathing

Sorry, I feel like I've been posting too much. I just always have a lot of questions. Okay, so my snake sheds normally, eats normally, doesn't "pace" around his tank (he's almost always in a hide)... none of those stress behaviors. If I pick him up he doesn't ball up, he doesn't strike or hiss and just sort of hangs out on my lap or slowly slithers nearby and smells everything. BUT.

He's never out for long, and he's usually just in a relaxed position on me or my bed. But when I put him back, I sometimes notice him breathing faster than normal. It's a bit odd, because he usually breathing normally when he's in my lap. Is this a hazard to his health? He's also quite shy, even for a BP. But it seems like stress breathing would happen when he's outside his enclosure rather than when he's put inside it.

i don't think it's his tank, as his temps and humidity are fine and he has several hides. Am I overthinking this? And no, I do not force him into sweaters and stress him on a regular basis. It was an inexplicable gift from someone and she wanted a photo, so.

Snakes can start breathing heavily for a variety of reasons related to fear, surprise, stress... So honestly, if he's still eating and hiding like a healthy BP and not showing symptoms of some illness, don't sweat it! These guys still have tolerance, they're not made of tissue paper glass.
