Live rat escaped. Has this ever happened to you?

My BP got a mouthful of substrate and somehow couldn't get a good hold on the rat. This is the second time she's let a rat go! How common of an occurance is this?

Did you catch it?? I've never had this happen but I've only recently started feeding live. Not to make light of your situation but admit, it's pretty entertaining.

Worst nightmare. Rat loose in my house. Not afraid of them or anything, just hate the stinky things. I take that back. Worse nightmare would be an escaped pregnant one.

It jumped off the tub before I could react and ran under my bed. It took 2 people buy we eventually caught it. It's now in her tummy!

Re: Live rat escaped. Has this ever happened to you?

I had it happen to me, I dropped an ASF rat into a tub and as it landed in the tub it immediately jumped like a foot in the air and out of the tub. I swear everything went to slow motion as I tried to catch I mid air and missed. I tried using sticky traps to catch it but would find missing. I was starting to think I was dealing with a super rat until I found it in the tub 3 weeks later. Good thing you found it, only thing worst than a feeder rat running wild is a pregnant feeder rat running wild.
