I'm newer to it all too; I've only had my girl for about five months now. I don't believe she was scared of you, but maybe afraid of whatever was going on around her. As you probably know, ball pythons love hiding, so if something scared her or she got bored of being out in the open, she may have just moved quicker so that she could hide, although she may have been interested in something and moved like that to check it out! But you're right, and she could have just been doing it to be silly. But I would keep letting her out like that, as I think its good for them.
