    Ball python suddenly lazy?

When I first got my ball python he was very active and would hang around outside of his hide and just generally seemed more playful but for about a week and a half now he seems to just sleep inside of his hide. I'm not sure if he has just settled down or if he is getting sick. He doesn't have symptoms of RI but wondering if it could be something else. I have had him for almost a month and a half and it seems like the previous owners didn't treat him great (never cleaned his cage and fed him once a month). He is a full grown 5 year old if that helps at all. If you have any idea of what could be wrong with him or if this is normal after moving them please let me know.

    Re: Ball python suddenly lazy?

I'm assuming your feeding him more than once a month now, so my guess was he was pretty hungry before and figured he could maximize his chances for getting food by hunting all the time. But now he is not so hungry he is fine sleeping and digesting. I feel like I only see most of my snakes the day before or the day of feeding day. As long as your temps are ok and humidity is okay you should be okay. You can always post pics of your setup and your temps / humidity too.

But at 4 days i thought forsure she died in her hide :/ then i went to check an thats when i seen her in full blown shed so i left her alone

Your BP most likely got accustomed to their setup and/or your husbandry might be spot on. I rarely ever see my BP's anymore. They just stay in their hide all day. Only time I see them is when I take them out to handle.

A hiding snake is a happy snake.

Thank you everybody for your input and help me relax as it can be stressful owning a snake for the first time.

Recent update: I changed his water today bc it was running low and checked on him. Looks like his beginning a shed.
