How arboreal are your adult carpets?
My boyfriend and I are about to upgrade our carpet enclosures to their permanent adult setups. Our carpets rarely touch the ground, especially Isabel with her new arboreal hide. We're debating between 4x2x2 or a 4x2x3 since the price difference is 35 dollars including the shipping difference. So how much time do your adults spend on the ground, versus climbing about?

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
All of my carpets spend more time 'in the trees' than on the ground. I think a 4x2x2 will suffice but if you have the room for 4x2x3's I'd say go for it. I'm torn between those two sizes as well but I think I'm going with the 4x2x2s in the interest of space. I think the added height is nice but not necessary.

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
They are semi arboreal a 4x2x2 is a great cage for a carpet.

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
We ordered 4x2x2 enclosures for our kiddos. If they seem as though they need larger enclosures down the road, we can do that. Thanks for the input Ziggy and Deb!

I agree with the others and think you made a fine choice.
I have a 4 x 2 x 2 for my carpet.

I could have easily added another foot upwards. Occasionally the taller cage can add some heating/humidity issues but I think I'd have been OK doing it here.
All morelia are at minimum, semi arboreal and in their natural habitat it is not unusual to find them 20+ feet up in the tree canopy.
"Natural habitat" can be surprisingly industrial, as many of the carpets will use roof gutters, attics, and sheds as their ambush points.
I really enjoy carpets as they are rather adaptive animals and seem to roll with the punches when human encroachment interrupts what Mother Nature put in place for their true home.

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
My Bredli is in a 4x2x2, my JCP is in a 4x2x3, both AP cages with basking shelves and PVC jungle gyms. My Bredli is usually on the shelf, except when she's in shed; the JCP is either on his shelf or jungle gym - he didn't even use his hide during his latest shed, just kinda lurked behind shrubbery.

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
Thank you for the responses. We are definitely going to be getting the 4x2x2 enclosures as they are already ordered from AP. They will all have PCV jungle gyms and hammocks in them. I'm just debating on wether or not to get the basking shelf.

Re: How arboreal are your adult carpets?
I took my shelves out because the carpets didn't use them. I'm thinking about buying a perch kit. I wish I could build a pvc jungle gym.
