May Purchase a New Glass Tank, But Need Advice

While looking around craig's list, I found a glass tank that would be perfect for my young bp in need of an upgrade, there is just one problem I can see in the photo. It has the top in three parts, two screens and a glass strip in the middle, well it looks like there may be a crack in the glass. If this is true, can the crack just be fixed with some silicone sealant, or would the whole piece need to be replaced?

The other question I have has to do with cats. The room the enclosure will be in will be one of the main rooms of the house, so the cats will have access to the tanks, and I don't want them to be able to get to the screen and break potentially break it and have access to the snake. Would a piece of plywood across the top remedy this fear and protect the screens?

    Thank you for any replies.

I would replace the whole top with a piece of plexiglass, and add a UTH + thermostat.

That just sounds like a massive pain to tend to for the price she's asking when I can just purchase a new AP enclosure for less, so that might just be what I end up with when it is all said and done.

Definitely go with AP over glass. We've got three more snakes to get shifted over, and looking forward to it.

    ^^^THIS!^^^
AP all the way! I just got my two T-8s set up a month and a half ago and couldn't be happier. Best enclosure upgrade I've ever made.

Save your money and buy a nice cage, glass tank are for fish, this is way too large even for the largest BP and you say you have a young one needing an upgrade, this tank will be a nightmare when it come to maintain proper heat and humidity and I am not even talking about the cleaning.

Go here http://www.apcages.com/home/ and buy a cage instead you don't need anything bigger than a T3, T8 will work too for an adult BP even the largest ones, it will help maintain heat and humidity much better than glass thank and will take care of the cat issue, and please also review our caresheet http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ius)-Caresheet
