F/T Rat or Live Mouse

I got a 360g BP last week and plan on feeding him tomorrow. Breeder told me he was on live rats and is a good eater. My issue is the only place for me to get live rats is Petco and their smallest rats may be too big for him (I'm going on the assumption I should be giving him an ~36g rat). So I'd like your opinion - would it be best to try a live large mouse or a F/T weaned rat?

I should add, that I would eventually want to try and convert him to F/T, but wasn't sure if since he's used to live, to keep him on that prior to trying F/T.

Feed what was offered previously and switch when we'll established in your care, that is the best way, f/t might work but it's a long shot and mice are a step backward when the animal already eat rats.

Deborah - I can't feed what was previously offered because I can't get it. If Petco has the right size live rat, I'll feed him that, but I don't think they do. So I'm trying to see what the next best option is. Sounds like your opinion is f/t rat over live mouse... did I interpret that correctly?

Deborah is right. Her method has the most success, however I would definitely tried the frozen thawed rat before a live mouse. That would be creating a new problem and if the animal actually eats the f/t you are on easy street.
