    New snake- confirming normal behavior

Hey guys I just purchased a small pastel ball python about 7 hours ago. When I first put him in his cage he immediately started exploring which is good. After about 15 minutes he then just plopped down under the cool side hide, because it's 89 room temperature anyways. And from there he's just been sleeping? Is this normal behavior? Haha I know it's probably really silly and he's fine but I'm just nervous because he's my first snake. Thanks

Yup. He looked around, found no threat, and found a comfy place to rest after a long day of finding a new home. At nearly 90 degrees in the room make sure he has a water dish he can get into to cool down.

Alright thanks!! All I needed was reassurance and yes he does have a good sized water bowl he can fit in. One last question at night for ball pythons what should the temperature not drop below and not go above? Thanks for your help!!

If you have a thermostat set on your heat source (STRONGLY recommend) the hot spot should stay 90 at night and the rest of the tank can go down to 70's. You really don't want the hot spot much higher than 90, 100 is a problem, beyond 100 can case burns and death.
