    Cat-proof rack?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to cat proof a rack? I'm worried about one of my cats pulling a tub open.

Yes. Google ""snake rack bar lock"" and look at the pictures. Basically fixing a bar in front of the tubs. Works perfectly.

Electric conduit clamp on the top and bottom shelf + dowel rod = tubs stay in place.

I actueally built this mod into my rack for my girlfriend's sake. (She's convinced the snakes can push the tubs forward to escape 😂😂&#128514 but I used two pieces of wood on cabinet hinges and a bar in-between them. This creates a space inside the rack where the tub can't be pulled out or spun.

She's correct, snakes have been known to push the tubs out and escape all on their own.

How would that work though... wouldn't they need something to push against for leverage?

The ceiling since the majority of racks are the lidless style.

That's a pretty clever idea. And yes snakes CAN push out their tubs and escape. What is REALLY fun is when one escapes and then goes to the back of the rack where it's nice and warm and hidden and they end up pushing out the REST of the tubs in the row so the rest of them can escape as well.

Well an escape wouldn't be nearly as much fun without some friends to share it with!
