New rack
Recently i have purchased a 4 draw medium rack system from reptile basics with the belly heat version. Also a herpstat 2 to regulate it. The temps are basically driving me crazy. I've read that placing the probe on the second from button will give me the best results also that the top rack won't be as hot as the others since it really only has 1 strip of the heat tape. Now my problem is the hot spots, top rack 85-90, middle 2 89-93 but my buttom 1 is anywhere from 95-101 when I have my herpstat set to 95.5 and yes the probe is sitting on top of the heat tape. What could be causing my bottom rack to be so hot when I don't even run the temps that high? Anyone have experience with this or have an idea on how to cool it down a bit? Planned on picking up my second Bp soon and more in the future so I want to Get it right.
Oh and I wanted to mention I'm using a zoomed inferred tempgun, not sure exactly how accurate they are.

Is that the temperature of the tape or the inside floor of the tubs?

Re: New rack
Well I have the herpstat set to 95.5, I have the probe taped on the heat tape on the 3rd row down. And the bottom of the tub is reading 85-90 first, second 87-91, third 89-94 and bottom 95-101. I guess I'll try using the temp gun on the tape itself.

The floor temperature is what you need to know.
Usually the top tub is the hottest.
How long have you had it up and running?
Is it one long piece of tape or one for each shelf?

Re: New rack
I've had it running for the past few days and it's one long piece running through.
