Can my royal python have another rat?

Well I fed them all on Monday and everyone ate except my male ivory.

I waited half an hour to see if he ate it and he didn't so I put the rat in with my female, she was in her hide, not even poking her head out or anything but when I went away for 2 minutes and come back she already had it half way down her neck! Lol she moves quick.

I thought he didn't want it because it's from a different supplier? So I went to the original pet shop and got him one yesterday and I left it in his cage over night but he still hasn't ate it (I can tell he's not interested as he slithers near it and doesn't even tongue flick or stare at it..?)

I was just wondering as my female has already had 2 rats can she have a third one if I Re heat it?(the piggy will probably take another lol) its been in his cage for about 24 hours?

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't. If it were her second, sure, but it would be her 3rd meal this week and I don't think that's healthy. Also I don't like to feed them to snakes after that long out of the fridge. I give them to the cats at that point. If you don't have a rodent-eating cat you could leave it outside in a wild area for the night creatures.

If it wasn't so old I'd probably offer it, I have a Ca King snake that is my garbage disposal, it's amazing how much she can eat, it surprises me sometimes! I'm pretty sure I've offered too much or too big of a food item to some of my snakes and they just know to refuse it and won't even strike at it. And I usually don't leave it in a cage for more than an hour.

Re: Can my royal python have another rat?

Okay well I took it out last night(when I posted this) and the rat has a wrinkley purple belly so I'm just going to put it the bin.

I don't have anything I can give the rat to, I don't want to put it outside as I live in the uk near busy streets..

I might consider getting a king snake to help me with left over rats lol, I've seen some really nice looking ones..

    Thanks for the help😊

I usually only leave the rat in the cage for half an hour - one hour but I just wanted to see if he wanted to eat it when everyone was asleep.
