Hello, I'm a new BP owner, after recently rescuing a normal from a friend who wasnt giving the proper care. About a week ago I took the BP to the vet to get a checkup because he had never had one before. The herp vet they have has 15 years of experience in the practice and so I asked if he could sex my snake. So he simply takes the snake from me, looks at the spurs and vent, then feels around above both the spurs and vent and then tells me it's a female. Not even a 10 second little look and feel. From what I've read here on the forums and on other websites the preferred and more accurate way to sex a snake is to probe or pop. What are your thoughts on this man doing neither and then telling me my snake is a female?
