    As someone who works at an animal shelter with an adoption contract we have clients sign, let me just say that our "contract" isn't actually legally binding. So just bear in mind that even if you sign something, even if that something is called a contract, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a legally binding document. You'd want to check it out with a lawyer to be 100% sure, of course.
