    Herps helping herps

I keep several (9) tortoises in addition to a handful of ball pythons and a sand boa. As a result I belong to a forum for tortoises as well as this one.
It's always refreshing when I can take information that I learned from reading here and help people with other animals in other situations.
For example I just dearly scolded a lady for using an UNREGULATED heat mat on the INSIDE of her tortoises enclosure.
So myself , and hopefully that lady and her tortoise are very appreciative for all the good advice on here.

Glad you able to help that lady and prevent injuries to her animals.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

    Re: Herps helping herps

"Dearly scolded" wow. If someone "dearly scolded" me rather then be kind and helpful and try to educate, I wld flat tell them to piss off. Was scolding really neccessary? Has she neglected to follow advice in the past? Sometimes when we think we are being helpful we can come off as rude and condescending, thus, making receiver of said info less likely to really be absorbing it, and most likely waiting for bearer of said info to just shut up already. KWIM?

Dearly scolding is not severe... if I said I screamed and threatened her maybe.
I have also found that sometimes when you try to be "kind and helpful" people just disregard you and perhaps don't understand the gravity of a situation?
Imagine if you saw someone using a heat pad inside a snake enclosure with no thermostat? Your first though would likely be "oh no that snake is dead. "
And I don't really give two beans about what that lady thought of me. She was the one with a very sickly tortoise who was asking random people on the internet for advice. I was the one trying to save it from being a cooked tortoise.

But it's okay the lady took your advice and did nothing.

I didnt know I gave advice... Interesting.

Its likely she was asking to obtain the info to make things better. But got scolded for it. So she tuned out the advice unfortunately.
