Ball Python Kills but don't eat

So Saturday is feeding g day
have two ball pythons that regularly kill the rat and then leave it without eating it. Sometimes after I attempt another rat and they eat. I sometimes see that the rat shows signs that the ball python tried to swollo it but stops. The rat is just a wean for a 400 gram snake and the other is 1500 gram for a medium.

Does anyone have any comments about
A bp killing but not eating it after

I've seen it before. What's your set up like? What's your feeding procedure? Do you pre scent the room before feeding?

Some can be shy feeders too. I have snakes that won't eat, or will even spit it out if already started, a meal if disturbed in any way whatsoever. Some critters are just more sensitive than others, even a little vibration might throw a high strung snake off the feeding rhythm.

Put the smaller one on a 10-14 day schedule, and the larger one on a 2-3 week feeding schedule.

    Feed every Saturday
    Tubs
    herpstat tstat
Breed my own healthy quality rats
    I may try smaller prey

    Seperate concern:
My tubs for my smaller snakes brought me questions... they are 6.2 qt
    15" × 11.5" × 3.5" (l × w × h)

I was thinking there too small. But the two snakes that drop food after kill are in proper large tubs

Their growth is slowing so they're telling you they are not as hungry as they used to be when they were babies.
